Spray paint on birch wood
4 x 6 feet
2019

This piece was created in 2020. The stencil was originally created for an art battle in Houston
where the theme was “Holiday”. I don’t subscribe to a lot of traditional Catholic holidays
wholeheartedly but I can relate to the celebration of death and to the change of seasons so I
created this. The colors are not characteristic of my work. They are drab, Winter colors. Summer
is my favorite season. This is a visual representation of an “Ice Queen ”, or “Summer
Killer”…based on a reference photo by a local photographer depicting La Santa Muerte. In the
end the image was too macabre for the “holiday” theme so it wound up on a beautiful piece of
birch wood:)
